About this policy
This policy describes how the current version of Trail Note Atlas handles information when you plan trips, write journal entries, attach photos, manage equipment lists, and import or export files.
Information accessed and stored
Trail Note Atlas works offline without an account. Information you save is stored locally on your device. The current app does not send your trip content to Aplink technologies or operate an app-managed cloud account or synchronization service.
The app stores the information you enter, including:
• Trip titles, dates, regions, and descriptions.
• Place names, notes, favorites, itinerary order, and optional latitude and longitude coordinates.
• Journal text, entry dates and times, links to places, and photos you choose to attach.
• Equipment item names and packing status.
• Internal record identifiers used to organize and link your saved information.
The app uses the device's local date and time to suggest dates and timestamps. You can edit journal timestamps.
Photos, files, and location
When you attach a photo, the app opens a system picker and reads the image you select. It copies the selected image into your locally saved journal. It does not request camera access or broad access to your photo library. The image is saved without a metadata-removal step, so information embedded in the original image, potentially including location metadata, may remain in the saved copy and JSON backups.
When you import a backup, the app reads the file you select through the system document picker. After validation and your confirmation, its contents replace your current local collection.
Coordinates are entered manually. The app does not request device location permission or track your location. Its route display connects saved points schematically; it does not retrieve maps, roads, directions, or distances from a mapping service.
How information is used
The app processes your information locally to display and edit trips, search saved content, organize itineraries and journal entries, show schematic routes, track packing progress, and create or restore exports and backups.
Advertising, analytics, and third-party services
The current application contains no advertising, analytics, tracking, or remote crash-reporting SDKs. Its declared libraries support the interface, local processing, and data serialization. No app-managed transmission of personal information to third-party services was identified in the current implementation.
Although the Android manifest includes Internet permission, the implemented trip, journal, photo, checklist, and backup features do not use a network service and do not require an Internet connection.
Exports, sharing, and system backups
The app does not automatically share your saved content with Aplink technologies, advertisers, or other recipients.
You can export an individual trip as a plain-text file containing its trip details, itinerary, coordinates, journal text, and equipment checklist. Photo files are not embedded in that text export.
You can also export a JSON backup containing all saved trips, places, journal entries, attached photos, and equipment checklists. Exports are written to the destination you choose in the system document picker. If you select a cloud-backed document provider, that provider may receive and store the exported file under its own policies. Anyone you give an exported file to may be able to read its contents.
Android system backup is enabled for the app. Depending on your device, operating system, and backup settings, Android may back up and restore app data through your configured backup service. This is separate from the app's manual export feature and is governed by the applicable platform or backup provider's practices.
Storage and security
On Android, the app saves its collection in an app-private local file and uses atomic writes to reduce the risk of incomplete saves. The current implementation does not add application-level encryption to the local collection or exported files. Photos encoded within JSON backups are not encrypted by that encoding.
Protect your device and choose secure locations for exported files. No storage or security measure guarantees complete protection. Because the app does not implement transmission of your saved collection to a server, it does not provide an app-managed encryption-in-transit mechanism. Transfers performed by a selected file provider or system backup service depend on that service.
Retention and deletion
Saved information remains in the local collection until you delete it, replace it through a confirmed backup import, or remove the app's local storage. The app does not apply an automatic retention period.
You can delete individual trips, places, journal entries, and equipment items. Deleting a trip removes its associated places, entries, attached photos, and equipment from the collection. Deleting a place leaves its journal entries in the trip without their place link. You can remove an attached photo in the journal editor and save the entry.
You can remove the local collection using Android's clear-storage controls or by uninstalling the app. These actions do not delete the original photos you selected, exported files, copies held by other people, or backups retained by a system or document provider. Manage those copies separately through the relevant device, storage, or service controls. Restoring an older backup may restore information previously deleted from the app.
For deletion questions or requests, contact info@aplinkllc.online. Aplink technologies cannot remotely access or erase a collection stored only on your device. No specific retention period has been established in the supplied information for correspondence you choose to send to this address.
Children's privacy
The app's intended age groups have not been specified. The current implementation has no accounts, age-verification feature, advertising, or developer-operated collection of children's information. Information entered into the app remains subject to the local storage and user-directed export practices described above. Contact the privacy address with questions concerning a child's information.
Browser preview
If you use the browser preview, its collection is stored in that browser's local storage. Clear the site's stored data to remove that local copy. The current preview directs users to the Android app for photo attachments and file import or export.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated to reflect changes in the app or its information-handling practices. Review the policy made available with the version you use for the current description.
